Clothes with ideology

Fair Trade –fair is organized the 15th-16th of May 2009 in Sports centre in Ylivieska. The purpose of the Fair is to inform people about Fair Trade, ethical consumption and global issues. Fair Trade-fair has been organized annually seven times before in different parts of Finland. Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contributed the Fair. This year the Fair is organized by the World shops trust from the Oulu South Region. Exhibitors (World Shops, other actors enhancing sustainable development, and artisans from the Oulu South region) present their products and tell how a Finnish consumer can help people in developing countries and decrease impacts on the environment.

There is a visitor, Jacqueline J.Bonney, telling about a Fair Trade artisan community, Bethany Colony, in India. In the sports centre’s stage there will be different kind of performances: ethical fashion show, music, demonstrations on Yoga, theatre, and opening a Fair Town- campaign that includes a panel discussion with local politicians. This year the theme is “Clothes with ideology”, so the program will be built around the Fair Trade- clothes and accessories.
